Top Trend: Sweaters
Sonia Zmihi,
Worried about the fall coming up and temperatures dropping down ? Don’t sweat it. Or actually, do. 🙆🏻 But if you see sweaters as boring clothes whose only aim is to keep you warm and cozy, then it is time to expand your horizons. For Prefall 2017, designers from all around the world worked up their magic and showed us how to turn the classic trivial item into the most striking piece.
Best case in point here, would be Alberta Ferretti’s buzz after she presented « Into the Rainbow », a bright and colorful capsule collection of seven wool and cashmere sweaters, each dedicated to a day of the week. They quickly became a A-listed items for all the major fashion Influencers out there at the moment and we saw the playful slogans take over our social media feeds. From Instagram Queens Chiara Ferragni and Eva Chen to Victoria Secret Models Sara Sampaio and Joan Smalls, they all picked their favorite day to sport the new IT-sweat.
Now if the name dropping above wasn’t enough to make you reconsider the trendiness level of the staple (we really doubt that!), we have rounded up for you six other chic sweaters that will bring your autumnal outfits up to the next level.
The nice thing about sweaters is also that come in all forms, shapes and shades. Of course, we decided to start up with the vividest one, referring to Tibi‘s oversized electric blue top tucked into a contrasting light yellow wraparound skirt and paired with red pointy shoes to gracefully bring together the primary colors trio. Other contemporary and pretty sophisticated interpretation of the trend would be Diesel‘s zipped up burgundy turtleneck or Stella Jean simple turquoise sweater worn over a clever multi-layers look.
Never before has fashion taken so much inspiration from street-savvy style. And obviously, sweats don’t make any exception. The proof? Luxurious reincarnations of the sport gear dominate the catwalks! From Each x Other’s short black hoodie emblazoned with a poetic slogan in Spanish “La poesia es liberacion”  and Coach 1941 beige casual NASA sweater to Versace‘s beautifully embroidered black top. Donatella Versace seems to have mastered the art of combining urban vibe and hyper-glamourous attitude, the embroideries on the sweater gives a nice touch of color and mainly a delicate reminder of the Baroque-inspired swirls decorating the transparent skirt it was matched with.
This season, embrace sweater weather to the fullest! And remember, the clothing item isn’t just a survivor must-have, but also a perfect statement making piece.
