Top Trend : Statement Coat
Sonia Zmihi,
Brace yourself : coat season is coming! And so are Fashion Weeks… So make sure you hit the major capitals all snuggled up in outstanding outerwear.
As the weather gets colder, coats are at the very core of ones wardrobe and hold the power of making any outfit instantaneously (and paradoxically) cooler. For winter style lovers (like us), choosing a coat is THE ultimate purchase and almost make us happy to put away the swimsuits and sunglasses. This season’s line-up is so brilliantly rich and diverse that it is pretty much impossible to pick less-than-stunning outerwear. So let’s get right to it. What’s in-store for the season to come ? We have culled for you the the most poignant breakout coats from the Pre-Fall 2017 shows.
Never ever have statement coats been this trendy. Indeed, Winter 2017 is going to be all about deconstructed coats, big shapes, slouchy designs, extra-vintage and busy prints.
First statement : the vinyl trench is truly happening! With major houses like Saint Laurent, Lanvin and Marni featuring it in their collections and redrafting the 80’s aesthetic, the fabric is making a huge come back and will soon invade your closet. We just love this long red and glossy version at MSGM, paired with matching boots. So wrong, it’s right.
Another big trend this season is the the ultra-fluffy and gorgeously cosy shearling coat. For an outwear piece that will feel like an actual hug, we invite you to visit your closest Acne Studios‘s boutique and get ready to feel the love. The snuggly lining and heavy, oversized cut will embrace your body and keep it warm all winter long, always in style. Shout out to Faust Puglisi too, for incorporation shearling in the chicest way to a deep blue cape with gorgeous details – the perfect hem to finish up this A silhouette.
For those who just can’t make up their mind, Miu Miu played a little mix and match combining two classics : a traditional university bomber (stolen from the boys) with a long checkered maxi coat for an original yet classic urban look.
Last but not least, prints are in and will definitely cheer you up on days where all you want is snooze under your blanket. Two great examples come from Stella Jean and Gucci. Both brands layered and combined fearlessly different types of prints and bright colors. For luxurious feel mixed with vibrant and edgy, you can always count on Gucci. Those of you who think they’ve been there, done that with fur – the Italian label proves you ain’t seen nothing yet.
There are so many pretty coat options, you might just end up wishing for extreme cold weather front just so you can wear them one on top of the other.
