Canadian YouTuber Laura Reid has made a name for herself thanks to her fashion hacks on the video channel. There she lays out how to up-cycle clothing to keep them on trend and shows how to recreate luxe designs on a budget. She also famously spent 6 months traveling across Southeast Asia with her boyfriend after graduating college and the subsequent Instagram posts and YouTube videos went viral. Today she works full time on her YouTube channel, which currently has almost 150,000 subscribers, making professionally produced segments that are both relatable and aspirational.
Here Reid talk about her big break, her dance skills and the challenges of packing for a month of fashion shows.
How did you first get interested in fashion?
What made you finally decide to launch out on your own and create your site?
I wanted a fun hobby while I was getting my degree at university and I stumbled upon YouTube and decided to start a channel. From there I found a love for film and being creative through my videos. It eventually led to being my full time job which I never thought was possible.
What was your big break?
I had a YouTube video a few years back that got 1.7 million video views in a month and it’s still my most viewed video to date.
Who inspires you?
I’m inspired by a lot of my fellow YouTube creators.
Who living or dead would you love to be able to have dinner with?

What is your favorite trip?
When are you happiest?
What is the biggest challenge you are currently facing?
I’m attending fashion month in September and I’m currently trying to figure out how to pack a month worth of clothes into one suitcase!
What is your secret talent?
What is your motto or the best piece of advice you ever got?
It’s advice I got from one of my friends who was recently diagnosed with Cancer and he said “You’ll be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the things that you did do”.
What emoji do you use the most?
The blushing smile emoji. I always like to include it in texts just because i’m overly friendly.
