A Quick Q&A with Jaime Dillon Ridge

Jessica Michault,

The Australian based blogger and stylist Jaime Dillon Ridge is a rising influencer from the land down under. Brands like Dior Cosmetics, Moët and Chandon, Zara, H&M and Tiffany & Co have already turned to the leggy brunette with the green gray eyes for creative collaborations. Now she is about to take the rest of the fashion world by storm when she heads to New York and Europe in September to embark on the month long ready-to-wear marathon for the first time.

Here she tells us about her fascination with Alexander McQueen, her talents for cake decoration and how her workaholic nature has helped her on her road to social media success.

Q: How did you first get interested in fashion?

A: I have loved clothes for as long as I can remember. Dressing up was a huge part of my childhood – being a Spice Girl was all I ever wanted! From there, my love for fashion grew. I always knew I would end up working in fashion, despite studying Law and Commerce. It sounds silly, but fashion defines much of who I am.

Q: What made you finally decide to launch out on your own and create your brand and blog?

A: My Social Media channels were strong, and one of my best girlfriends was working in Fashion PR at the time, they would dress me for events etc, and every time I went in to visit she would say ‘you have to start a blog – it would make my job so much easier’. Here I am. DILLON DOT is an extension of myself. What started as a passion project has swiftly developed into what will be my full time job come July, soon after I have launched JAIMEDILLONRIDGE.COM. Creative production, direction and styling are all I ever wanted to do, so I am totally pumped.

Q: What was your big break?

A: I don’t believe there was a defining moment when everything fell into place, as I have very much grown my brand organically and slowly whilst working full time, however signing with my manager Kat from MGMT was an incredible move for me.

Q: Who inspires you?

A: I find I draw inspiration from many things. Of course I find people inspiring, but I think it’s more what they do, the work they create that inspires me. I try to draw inspiration from many different areas of life, of course my extensive magazine collection, but also other parts of my life – art, nature etc. believe it is important to find inspiration in areas you wouldn’t typically turn to.

Q: Who living or dead would you love to be able to have dinner with?

A: Alexander McQueen.

Q: What is your favorite trip?

A: I am heading over to New York and Europe to do the September circuit this year, so I have a feeling this will be my new favourite trip!

Q: When are you happiest?

A: I am my happiest when I’m travelling overseas, working on exciting projects and spending time with incredible inspiring people. I’m pretty much work obsessed, but I absolutely love what I do, so work makes me happy.

Q: What is your secret talent?

A: I love cake decorating – however sadly I don’t have time to do this as often as I would like!

Q: What is your motto or the best piece of advice you ever got?

A: To believe whole-heartedly in yourself, your work and in your journey. If you don’t believe in yourself entirely, how can you expect others to?

Q: What emoji do you use the most?

A: The kissing face with the love heart.

Q: What is the latest Instagram feed you decided to follow?

A: lisa.aiken.
