A Quick Q&A with Lucio Colapietro

Jessica Michault,

Lucio Colapietro is an Italian fashion stylist who embodies “la dolce vita”. He loves the beautiful things in life, including great food, good friends and always looking your best. These passions have served him well as the fashion editor of L’Officiel Azerbaijan, a personal VIP buyer for a circle of well-heeled woman and in the freelance work he has done for publications like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Maxim and Arena Homme.

Here Colapietro talks about how his grandmother opened his eyes to the power of fashion, working with the singer Skin and the challenges of the digital age.

Q: How did you first get interested in fashion?

A: It was a natural process, a family business…My Grandma worked in fashion in the 1960s, I used to watch movies with her when I was a kid, and she taught me everything she knew about clothes and style.

Q: What made you finally decide to launch out on your own and become a buyer and freelance stylist?

A: When I understood that I was at the same level of the people who taught me so much and that I was ready to finally spread my wings.

Q: What was your big break?

A: I never really feel like “I made it”. I am always looking for the next big goal to achieve. But I was really happy when I worked with legendary rock singer Skin in London.

Q: Who inspires you?

A: In this moment Iris Apfel. But in general, everything that surrounds me, because I consider myself an esthete.
