Quick Q&A with Jessica Markowski
Jessica Michault,
Jessica Markowski is part of the hyphenated generation whose creativity isn’t limited to just one area. Model, actress and content creator is how she describes herself. You could add to that hard working and determined. Markowski, who lives in New York City, comes from a family of immigrants who instilled in her a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
This perseverance has helped her generate a large social media reach with 175 thousand followers on Instagram and over 16 thousand fans on Facebook. Here she talks about how she first discovered fashion thanks to her grandmother, her talent for languages and how her family continues to inspire her everyday.
How did you first get interested in fashion?
I first got interested in fashion when I was a kid growing up in America. My family came from Poland in the 90’s. My grandma was a seamstress. Whenever I brought home new clothing, she would right away tailor every piece of clothing for me to make every piece look flattering and put-together. I think she opened my eyes up and trained me to view fashion in a certain way. She taught me that fashion is about expression and presentation.
What made you finally decide to launch out on your own?
I think growing up I always wanted to launch out on my own. My parents came here and worked EXTREMELY hard in order for their children to have better lives than they did. I think my whole life was trained to become someone.
I think my first break was when I started to model in NYC at the age of 16. It was the year I was recruited by a modeling agency and have booked many print, commercials and opened up my career to film and TV and becoming an actress and part of the Screen-Actors-Guild union.
Who inspires you?
My family definitely inspires me most. I think their achievements in America have taught me that anything is possible. My family first came to America with not a lot, and worked their way up and created good lives of their own- the true American Dream story. They taught me all there is to know about ambition, dedication and success.
What is your favorite trip?
My favorite trip has to be Vail, Colorado. It is where my boyfriend grew up and it is the first trip we have every taken together as a couple! In December, Vail is seriously a WINTER WONDERLAND.
When are you happiest?
I am happiest when I am relaxing and enjoying time with my family and friends. I love putting business aside and just enjoying life and its precious moments with the close people I have in my life.
What is your secret talent?
I speak Polish fluently! So I am from NYC but grew up speaking Polish and it was my first language before I went into Elementary School.
What is your motto or the best piece of advice you ever got?
A little progress each day adds up to big results.
What emoji do you use the most?
All my friends know me for using the girl in the red gown most! Whenever I am happy and feel like dancing, I just want to throw in ” ” emoji! (Weird, I know).
What is the latest Instagram feed you decided to follow?
The latest Instagram I have followed is @margaret__zhang . I love how she creates a palette that really makes me feel as I am experiencing her life through photos. The photos seem very real and organic.
