Piece of the Week: Adidas Originals by Alexander Wang Onesie

The Adidas Originals by Alexander Wang Onesie
Is there anything more emblematic of the fast paced energy of New York City than the death defying bike messenger? We don’t think so. And seeing as Adidas is all about cool activewear and Alexander Wang is all about urban streetwear, well it just makes sense that for their second collaboration they would turn to biking gear as thier starting point. A unisex athleisure line up that is filled with second skin biker shorts, striped hoodies and our favorite – the day-glow zip-up onesies. The three-striped bandit masks come in a close second behind those onesies, and photographer Juergen Teller sure makes them look good together in the campaign he shot for the 27 piece collection.
But what is just as cool about this collaboration is how the two brands have turned New York City into an integral part of the launch of the line. The collection first went on sale in the Big Apple on Saturday, July 29th where fans of the two brands had to hunt out posters for the line plastered about the city. On them were product codes and a phone number to text in their orders. Then it was time for the bike messengers, dressed in pieces from the collection, to spread out across the city to hand deliver the orders.
It was one of the fashion “you had to be there” moments. But that doesn’t mean the rest of the world has to miss out on all the action. They can live the NYC launch vicariously via the clothes they buy from this clever collaborations once they drop online and at select Adidas and Alexander Wang stores across the globe starting on Saturday, August 5. Which give the rest of the world a few more days to get their bike messenger bodies in tip top shape for that eye catching and form fitting onesie.
