New York looses another rising star as designer Joseph Altuzarra announces his decision to present his signature brand’s biannual fashion shows in Paris. For the designer, born and raised in the French capital, the city holds a very deep personal significance. “Since the very beginning, this has been a dream for me and I feel like now my time has come. I’m honored to have been invited by the French Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and to be able to show my creations in Paris,” he explained when announcing the move.
More than a homecoming, this transition resonnates with Altuzarra’s of reinforcing its brand identity and signals its intention to accelerate international growth. “The global scope of Paris as a city will allow us to reach a wider audience,” he added.
Altuzarra presented his first collection at New York Fashion Week in 2009. In moving to Paris, the label joins the departure of other fellow expats like Rodarte, Thom Browne or Proenza Schouler. The City of Light has been proving to be a quite trending platform for American designers wanting to take their brands to the next level.
